Great Shibori Takes Time
The more fabric we prepare before the retreat, the more Shibori we can dye on Day One—which means you’ll have an incredible assortment of hand-dyed fabrics ready for designing. This is truly a “quilt as you dye” experience: more time quilting, less waiting around.
Although the retreat takes place in January, the creative journey begins in August with your Stitched Shibori Homework—including a special video appearance by the Queen of Fabric Manipulation, Cheryl Whited. Cheryl will guide you through stitched Shibori techniques in several online instructional videos. Cindy may even sneak in a few extra creative challenges to keep things exciting!
By the time you arrive, you’ll be ready to dye, design, and dive in.
What Will You Do With All That Indigo?
You’ll transform your stunning hand-dyed Shibori fabrics into a one-of-a-kind quilt with guidance from two extraordinary improvisational quilters:
-
Karen K. Stone
-
Scott Murkin
Both are award-winning, prolific artists known for bold design and creative mastery. They’ll help you make your Shibori shine—working with value, small-scale prints, and large focal pieces to create a quilt that is uniquely yours.
Your stack of indigo has never had it so good.
What Else Can You Expect?
